Gum Disease Study

University of Michigan School of Dentistry

University of Michigan School of Dentistry is looking for volunteers for a research study on periodontitis (gum disease). Eligible participants will receive conventional treatment for gum disease, including surgery, and possible treatment with medication. All research related work will be performed at no charge. In addition to therapy, participants will self-administer a bone building medication or placebo at home over a 6 week period.

Major Inclusion Criteria:

  • Gum disease

  • Over 30 years of age

  • No current bone diseases or

  • No uncontrolled diabetes or decreased calcium absorption
